Here is the next in the (very) occasional series of guest blogs. I am delighted that Klara has taken time out of her busy schedule to write about what inspired her to be a tour guide and also become the author of a great booklet called `Discover The History of Brighton With Kika`, which actually features The Lanes treasure hunt by Black Cat Treasure Hunts too. So...over to you Klara...

Imagine that you’re coming to Brighton with your children and you’re not sure where to start, what to explore, and you certainly don’t feel like scrolling over Google maps. Well then, I recommend keeping reading because I’ve got something special for you!

When I first came to Brighton, that was before I had my first smartphone – imagine! – we were heading down to the seafront asking people how to get to the Royal Pavilion. They were pointing in a straight down direction. After getting lost on a couple of pathways and roads, we eventually found the beautiful palace which is so dominant in Brighton.

And then… at that point I just wished I could have a tour guide which you can have now! It would be so easy to learn about the the important history of the palace, and play games, search for clues, be a scavenger on a treasure hunt to learn more, but not only about the history, but also about the architecture, culture, environment and feel more like a local! And that’s why I created this interactive tour guide with which you can explore all of this together with KIKA, a little cartoon tour guide who is excited to show you this beautiful city. This activity tour guide is now available in Brighton!

Get a copy of Discover the History of Brighton with KIKA, and have more fun than you could ever expect!

You will find two trails. One is for Brighton seafront and one is for the city, each with 10 landmarks and most important places you shouldn’t miss in Brighton. Each place has interesting information about the history, practical information about, for example entrance fees, fun tasks to for your children to learn and explore, and also a lot of space for your children’s creativity, drawing, colouring, writing, placing stickers and photos which you’ve taken on your tour.

How did I come  to incorporate a hunt for treasures in the oldest part of Brighton with Black Cat?Perhaps you didn’t know that The Lanes are the oldest part and the heart of original Brighton (Brighthelmstone). This labyrinth of very narrow pathways, called twittens, is so special and popular, especially among tourists, that I decided to bring you more of it in a special treasure hunt game. In, out and around The Lanes has been written by well-known local treasure hunt company Black Cat Treasure Hunts. Black Cat is very curious, loves exploring Brighton and that’s why he prepares many different interesting, thematic treasure hunts in Brighton and many other cities, towns and countryside around Sussex! Thanks to our collaboration, KIKA and the Black Cat now bring you even more fun while exploring Brighton. Find the game included in the book!
