The Summer Office Party. 7 Great Treasure Hunts That Made The Event.

The office summer party is the perfect occasion to either feel appreciated or work towards as an incentive activity. A treasure hunt alongside food, drinks and music is the ideal way to get everyone together, having a lot of fun. If you are the top manager reading this, you can even tick off the box for team building from the treasure hunt. If you are the office manager, event manager, staff rep or maybe the one in the meeting who offered to put this party together then here are seven compelling examples of when Black Cat Treasure Hunts has organised great office summer party treasure hunts in the recent past. On all of these occasions the people in your roles were made to look good! You can thank me later...

1. The one where they dressed as pirates and met in the middle of a park.
This was a Brighton treasure hunt (or should I say `Hove actually` for the start/finish point) where teams did a circuit of the park and then set off just into Brighton. Pirates completing football `keepy uppy` and completing a clue featuring the local county cricket team were indeed highlights. Coming back to beers/wine in a big container of ice and a barbecue wasn`t the worst idea either. Black Cat Treasure Hunts has a high % sun record as well...just saying!

2. The one where they worked for a few hours but then set off on adventure, caught a train and finished with a party on top of a roof.
It was a day of work and fun for about 50 employees in Camden. They embarked on an adventure, boarded a train and ended up in Stratford. There, they ran up the stairs like Sylvester Stallone in Rocky, with the iconic theme song playing in the background. Opposite they rushed to the top of a roof in the Stratford Centre, to finish where a DJ, food and games awaited them. This may sound like a fantasy, but it was a reality for these lucky staff members. It was another sunny day by the way.

3. The one where the primary school teachers played Hopscotch and found out whether Apple and Gooseberry Crumble or Belgian Chocolate Brownies had more kcals in.
If you can`t beat`em, join `em. It seems reasonable that teachers should have as much fun as the kids on an afternoon off. The video clip challenge of teams playing Hopscotch was enlightening, whilst clearly it was best to eat both the crumble and the brownie in the pub at the end to decide on the answer to the last question!

4. The one where the small group chose the classic route, did the treasure hunt as one group and ate fish and chips on the beach.
Not all companies undertake the treasure hunt in teams. A small cohesive team like to stick together and have fun working out the questions. I picked the route from the train station to the beach in Brighton for this group. Sometimes it just works to use the classic tried and tested to ensure the summer party achieves its goals. After all, who doesn`t want to eat fish and chips, people watch and work out how to get the grade of `treasure hunt hall of famer` on their CV.

5. The one where they did things the right way, blew the budget and had great prizes.
Now, I suspect that this day was part of a longer stay that might have involved some work, but on this day they did have  a summer party ...they did start and finish at one of the top hotels in Brighton...they did supply some nice bottles of wine and fancy meal out vouchers to the winners and  they did ask me to create different routes for the teams. Sometimes girls (and boys)...ok...men and women just wanna have fun.

6. The one for 150 tour guides...
This one could have been fraught with danger. These guys are the experts, and they are on a `busman's holiday`. This is not a time to make a mistake. I adopted that old guidance of Keep it simple, stupid! (K.I.S.S.) I zoned Brighton so that they could wander where they wanted, packed the treasure hunt with interesting questions and historical oddities and let them get on with it. Went down a storm! When you are given a clear spec on what is required...follow it!

7. The one that hasn`t happened yet.
It hasn`t happened because it`s yours and I`m looking forward to receiving your enquiry. I can`t wait to see what sort of ideas you have for it. Do you want the last question to be on the i360 tower when you can see from Brighton to the Isle of Wight or maybe you are going all in for a tropical theme and want the challenges and questions appropriately themed?! Maybe you want it to be the summer party that ends all summer parties---using speedboats, impersonating James Bond and drinking Martini`s shaken not stirred on the beach?
